Article Marketing and Writers Block
You know what it is like, you start an article or get half way through it and suddenly you are stuck for something to write, or you read what you have written so far and it is complete rubbish so you hit the delete key.
I know you know the symptoms but what is the cure?
Belief
When you first start writing articles you may believe that you do not know enough about the subject to advise or guide others. This is not true, you are in actual fact more of an expert on the subject than you may at first think. You have no doubt read up on article marketing and done your research on it. You have probably read everything you can get your hands on to do with the techniques that work with article marketing. What you have to realise is that what you already know is much more than the millions of people on the Internet that are new to article marketing, or have never used it before. Having belief in yourself and your own ability will give you the confidence to write good articles.
The Middle Start
Don’t start at the beginning of your article. I know that goes against whatever you was taught at school when you had to write essays, but it works with article writing. Start writing the middle part of the article first. Note down the main point of the information you want to get across and then expand on the main points. Once you have the body of your article completed you just need to explain what you are going to show the reader in your article, the introduction. Then explain what you have covered and how it will help the reader, the conclusion.
Practice
The more you practice your art the better you will become and the easier it will seem. Make a point of having a couple of practice sessions each week by setting a timer for a period of 10 minutes. In that 10 minutes write as much as you can about your niche or topic. It does not matter if you end up with loads of paragraphs of information that do not flow naturally together. Brainstorming in this way is a great way to practice writing at speed and you will be very surprised at how many ideas you will come up with for articles when you read over what you have managed to write in 10 minutes.
Do It!
Yes you know what’s coming, my favourite words “Take Action” Don’t just read what I or someone else has explained to you, Go and Try it
Do it right now, open up a blank word document or text and time yourself for 10 minutes as you write everything you can about your niche or topic. Don’t try and use the excuse that you do not have a timer, if you have a mobile phone most of them have some form of timer or app to use. I really do believe you will be astonished by doing this, at how much you do know about your niche. When you have finished leave a comment below and let us all know how you got on.
I like this article very much as it provides many great tips so before I go on, I’d like to thank you for writing this and helping many, as myself, who have ‘writers blockage’ one too many times.
Now to the point, I always liked writing and never had any problems with blockages. Words would just come out. Recently I had to write something for my boss and no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t get the words down to the paper. The idea was there, plan was there but I didnt know how and where to start and job needed to be done ASAP. I finally managed to write it in the last minute and it was ok. What I did after was practiced a lot. I would just write blocks of sentences, ideas and paragraphs. Whatever came to my mind and read it afterwards. It became so much easier after couple of practice sessions.

I must say, when I started reading this I was like “what?? thats insane”. I would always start at the beginning and struggle my way through it. I will definitely try the way you have described and see how it goes.
Easier said than done haha. i love writing but always have a problem on how to write and where to start. whenever i get determined to write something, pick a topic, get everything ready, go over it in my head and i start putting it down on a paper i simply get lost. i get so many ideas in my head that somewhere in the middle of the process i get lost in all of it. maybe i’m not a writer material. i’m gonna try everything you said here nd see how it goes. maybe i just need some time and patience. before i forget, great article you have written here. did you follow your guidelines too? (lol)
Writer’s block is extremely common, even with professional writers. I agree with the author of this article but I’d also like to offer everyone few of my own tips on what to do when the block hits you.
First of all, the blockage will go away. Give yourself some time, take a break and relax. Your mind needs refreshment in order to function properly.
What I do sometimes is this. I plan ahead. Meaning, when I’m “on a roll” I may write 5,10,15 articles in advance so I’ll have a stash of them and be ready when the drought hits me.
I have been writing articles for years now and these are some of the things that help me when I burn out so to speak. They may or may not help you but they sure can give you a heads up.
Good luck with your writing.
I have come across this dreaded writers block so many times in my career. It can be very annoying and frightening especially if you’re on a deadline and need to finish the article as soon as possible. Not to mention if you’re entire business is depending on it. You have provided few great tips on how to overcome it. What I’ve noticed is people, once the block hits them, tend to believe they don’t know anything on the subject they’re trying to write about (just as you stated in your article) and everything goes downhill from there. The thing I find useful is going through my old articles. That way, ideas come back to me and I start building a plan on what to write and how to go on. Old articles are always a good resource of inspiration.
Writers block is every writers worst fear. I’ve been there myself.
Practice, practice, practice; that is the key of being a successful writer. Also, do not force yourself. Relax and take it easy. Even while you relax ideas will come puring to your head. Write them down so you’ll have more material once you start writing.
i am thinking of starting my own blog, writing articles about the things i like but everytime i start my brain just freezes and after trying for couple of times i just give up cause it gets too tiring. thank you everyone for your great advices. they’ve helped me a lot and i’ve learned few things i didnt know, like starting in the middle, not the beginning. that is completely new to me and i have to test this as soon as i get a chance. i’m hoping everything i’ve learned here will help me a great deal. thank you once again.
Norca I am really pleased that you are open to new ideas and willing to try something a bit different. This is what marketing is all about, if something does not work, then try something different. Just give it a try and see if it works for you
